  1. Just spent 15 minutes reading every resolution here. Morbidly fascinating.

I love Wait But Why. Thanks for creating such a powerful emotional place on the internet. Somewhere that makes me both contemplate and laugh. Happy New Year and here's to you guys.

  3. Hey man.Just wanted to say, this is my favorite blog ever. My favorite post of the year was the one about procrastination. I'm writing this comment to avoid doing what I'm supposed to be doing right now, btw. In fact it's not me typing right now. It's the monkey.
    Happy new year.

  4. Here is a link to an article that explains something called 'goal factoring'. I guess it helps you achieve your resolutions by using your emotions. If I have it right, this is how it works: By jumping ahead (in your mind and imagination) 6 months to a time in the future when you haven't achieved your goal, then you see your future self feeling terrible (for not losing the weight or whatever) and ask yourself why. What went wrong. Then you take your answers as to why you failed and find ways to get around those roadblocks. Now. Before you derail. So, in 6 months, you're not sitting there thinking 'what went wrong'. It's worth a try. But, it doesn't work if you're an optimist. You have to picture yourself failing to do this exercise.

  5. Reading and laughing at your holiday character post, I realized how much I have loved reading your blog for the past few months. Unbelievable how you manage to explore so many of the thoughts that have been percolating on my mind's back burner for 20+ years. I get the sense I've stumbled upon the early phases of something great. Bravo and may 2014 treat you well.

PS I never post on comment boards but this is the one exception because you deserve the recognition!

  6. I am going to write a book damnit. And I have to because now you've told everybody that this is happening and thus I will be publicly shamed if it fails to come to pass. Also is shame a powerful motivator? I feel like it is. Does science back me up on this? Anybody?

Also - to the dude (I'm assuming) who is resolving to fat less at bars, I wish you all the best in your journey. As somebody who rarely frequents bars this doesn't impact me much. However your friends are probably most sincerely wishing you the most success in your quest.

  7. Happy New Year to everybody who reads this blog, and to the author of the blog.

My new year resolution, and I'm sure that other readers of WbW share with me, is start drawing characters like the ones we can see here [yes, I know you already tried]. I personally get along with monkey who I (unfortunately) spend some time with; so I'll start drawing him first until the panic monsters comes.
