Airport officials say a hotel shuttle bus crashed into the international arrivals terminal at Mitchell International Airport on Thursday.

Officials at Mitchell International Airport said Thursday afternoon that the driver of a hotel shuttle van lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the international arrivals terminal at the airport.

Emergency medical crews from the airport fire department were attending to the van driver, but there was no word on the extent of the driver's injuries or condition.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m.

"There was an impact to the front panel of the building," said Pat Rowe, the airport's marketing director.

County engineers were at the scene assessing the structural integrity of the building. Mitchell is owned and operated by Milwaukee County.

The international arrivals terminal is separate from the airport’s main terminal/concourse complex.

"Neither domestic nor international flights have been affected by this incident," Harold Mester, airport spokesman, said in a statement.
