Cooperative leader likes proposed 199 fix
The new President of Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative likes what Congress has proposed to fix the 199a tax problem.
Brody Stapel says this fix addresses unintended consequences and restores fairness to the purchase of farm commodities including milk, and that fair competition is at the base of any good economic sector. Stapel says The new provisions in the omnibus bill would eliminate Section 199A and replace it with a modified version of the previous law.
Stapel is also pleased with the provision in the omnibus funding bill that will continue to exempt farms from air emissions reporting requirements under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. (CERCLA)
Brody Stapel was elected President by the co-op’s board March 7th following the death of President John Pagel in a plane crash. Todd Doornink replaces Stapel as Vice President.
Edge Dairy Cooperative represents more than 800 farmers in nine states.
