Car crash into light pole kills Marco Island man, 30, early Thursday

A Marco Island man died early Thursday when his car left the road, hit a light pole and overturned, state police said.

Anthony Britt, 30, was driving east on San Marco Road just east of Sunset Street South on the island about 2:30 a.m. when he entered the lanes for westbound traffic and onto a north grass shoulder, Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported. 

The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer that Britt was driving hit the pole and flipped onto its roof, FHP said.
