Prep roundup: Seacrest boys tennis defeats Canterbury

The Seacrest Country Day School boys tennis team beat Canterbury 5-2 on Tuesday.

In singles for the Stingrays, Ryan Talano beat Andres Hernandez, 6-0, 6-2. Kiran Shelar won 6-1, 6-0 over Randy Spivey, and Adam Feins topped David Cato, 6-4, 7-6 (1).

In doubles, Talano and Jack Tucker won 6-3, 0-6, (11-9) over Hernandez and Este Cadiou. Shelar and Feins beat Cato and Spivey, 7-5, 2-6, (10-8).

"Super proud of this district win,” Seacrest coach Louanne Fischer said. “With Seacrest leading 3-2 going into the doubles, this match could have went either way. Ryan Talano  and Jack Tucker clinched the match with a huge super tiebreaker win in the No. 1 doubles position."  

NAPLES 7, BISHOP VEROT 0: In singles for the Golden Eagles. Michael Moll beat Christian Kearns, 6-3, 6-0. Justin Braverman topped Michael Hafele, 6-0, 6-0. Mason Anderson defeated Andrew Takais, 6-1, 6-0. Garnel Guerrier won 6-0, 6-0 over Ryan Witham, and Alex Richey-Klein beat Bryan Vooreehs, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, Mason Anderson and Guerrier won 6-2, 7-5 over Hafele and Takais. Griffin Alexander and Mathew Anderson beat Witham and Freddy Schaerf, 6-2, 6-2.

“It was our first match back from spring break,” Naples coach Tony Kamen said. “I thought everyone performed well.”

GIRLS TENNIS

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 3, GULF COAST 2: All the Seahawks’ points came in singles as AJ Massoll beat QiQi Anderson, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8. Kaitlin Quevedo won 6-3, 6-2 over Emma Schilling and Jennifer Labs topped Audrey Sanchez, 6-3, 6-1.

PALMETTO RIDGE 6, GOLDEN GATE 1: In singles for the Bears, Larkin Martinez beat Kasey Gogia, 6-1 6-2. Natalia Rosen topped Mya Gutierrez, 6-0, 6-3. Jayde Walsh won 6-2, 6-0 over Bibiana Gutierrez, and Emily Raser beat Brittany Nguyen, 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles, Jaclyn Rakich and Martinez won 9-8 over Perrino and Bibiana Gutierrez. Rosen and Walsh beat Gogia and Mya Gutierrez.

FIRST BAPTIST 6, MARCO ISLAND ACADEMY 1: On first court, Aiden Denman defeated Lauren Faremouth, 6-2, 6-0. Bella Heaslip played on second court, defeating Willow Nash 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3, Fran Farias defeated Reese Jones 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4, Alexis Baker defeated Jasmine Schauer 6-1, 6-2. On No. 5 court, Valerie Lemmo defeated Nicole Brunson 6-2, 6-2.

Marco Island Academy won, 9-8, at No. 1 doubles, and FBA's Lemmo and Raymer won, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles.

The Lions' next match is Thursday at Seacrest.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NAPLES 10, LELY 3: The game was suspended due to rain with the Golden Eagles leading 10-3, but was determined to be a full, completed game.

Chloe Quintero had a hat trick for the Golden Eagles. Sophia Chickering and Jacqui Lawler found the net twice. Mikayla Shust, Mia Longmire and Emily Hugan found the net once.

Madison Cramer had a hat trick for the Trojans.

Naples (10-0) is at Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
