Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin (71) walks off the field after a game against the Buffalo Bills at Sun Life Stadium.

Corrections and clarifications: An earlier version of this story misclassified the four counts of criminal threats. They were charged as felonies.

Former NFL player Jonathan Martin faces five charges stemming from the Instagram post he made last month that led to the closure of the Southern California high school he attended, according to online court records.

Martin, who sought treatment at a Los Angeles area hospital hours after the Instagram story post, was charged with four felony counts of making criminal threats and a single count of carrying a loaded firearm in public, a misdemeanor.

Greg Risling, a spokesperson for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office, told USA TODAY Sports in an email Tuesday “there isn’t any information” he could provide in the case.

Martin turned himself in later Tuesday. He pled not guilty and is due back in court April 25.

The picture Martin posted included a shotgun and shells with the message, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide or revenge.” Martin used the hashtags #HarvardWestlake and #MiamiDolphins in the post.

The post led to the closure of Harvard-Westlake for a day. The private school in Studio City later sought a restraining order against Martin, according to court records.

Martin, 28, played offensive tackle at Stanford before being drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round in 2012. He accused his then-Dolphins teammate Richie Incognito of bullying him, leading to Incognito's suspension.

Martin last played in the NFL in 2014 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Martin tagged Incognito in his post along with another former Dolphins teammate, Mike Pouncey. Martin also tagged James Dunleavy, who attended Harvard-Westlake and was a walk-on basketball player at USC.
