Top 10 boys high school basketball teams in Knoxville area

1. Bearden (38-2) — The Bulldogs came close to upsetting Memphis East, now No. 3 in the country, in the Class AAA state semifinal. Drew Pember combined for 30 points and 18 rebounds in the two TSSAA Boys Basketball State Championships games.

2. Grace Christian (27-7) — The Rams beat Webb three times in the final month of the season, including in the Division II-A state title. Mr. Basketball finalist CJ Gettelfinger averaged 22 points a game on the season and Grant Ledford had 20.

3. Webb (29-6) — The Spartans fell to Grace Christian in the state title, the teams' fifth meeting. Seniors Chase Ridenour led Webb with averages of 15 and 14, respectively on the season.

4. Fulton (30-3) — The Falcons won their Class AA state semifinal over Stratford in double-overtime but fell to Hamilton. Trey Davis averaged 18 points and Edward Lacey 17 in the three tournament games.

5. Powell (22-12) — The Panthers made a great postseason run after finishing third in the district in the regular season. They were knocked out by Whitehaven in the Class AAA quarterfinals. Desmond Billingsley and Caleb Tripp had 11 points each.

6. Alcoa (22-11) — The Tornadoes only lost four times in the final month and a half, twice to AAA teams and to Fulton before their season ended in the Class AA quarterfinals against Livingston Academy. Dante Harris scored 12 points in the game.

7. Oak Ridge (21-8) — The Wildcats lost to Powell in the district championship and then Bearden in the region semifinals. Levert Smith and Marcus Smith each averaged 14 points for Oak Ridge.

8. Maryville (25-7) — The Rebels fell off at the end of the season, finishing 7-5 in the final 12 games, including back-to-back losses. Sophomore Joe Anderson stood out all season.

9. Anderson County (22-13) — The Mavericks made it to the region quarterfinals, before being knocked off by Maryville. Spencer Chandler averaged 17.8 points per game to lead Anderson Co.

10. Oakdale (28-7) — Jackson Hicks made a nearly half-court shot at the buzzer to send the Eagles into overtime in the Class A quarterfinals, but the Eagles fell to North Greene. Hicks had 33 points in the game.
