Were you impacted by the Meltdown at Gatwick – email for £100 in vouchers

31-12-2013 13-43-45

In an unprecedented move, Gatwick airport is offering passengers £100 of UK High Street vouchers if they were impacted by the electrical problems that they had before Christmas. This really is remarkable, but I suspect may be an attempt to head off people claiming against them in the courts.

Their press release and details of how to claim are here.

It is quite generous:

  • Flight must have been due to arrive or leave on 24 December
  • You need to supply your postal address
  • You will get the vouchers within 28 days.

Terms and conditions for Goodwill Scheme

Passengers whose flights were cancelled due to the operational issues at Gatwick Airport should email customer.services@gatwickairport.com with evidence of their booking on a flight due to depart from or arrive at Gatwick Airport on 24th December 2013 and with their postal address. Subject to verifying details a voucher for £100 will be posted to passengers within 28 days of the application for payment.

It does set a precedent for the next meltdown at Heathrow. Can you say Terminal 2?
