BABCOCK RANCH — Babcock Ranch, the world’s first solar-powered town located just northeast of Fort Myers off State Road 31, announced the Destin model home by Stock Classic Homes is open for viewing.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath Destin model is in Lake Timber, a neighborhood of 220 single-family lake- and preserve-view homes within a short walk of all the amenities and activities at Babcock’s downtown center, Founder’s Square.

With 3,191 square feet of air-conditioned living space, the Destin was designed for entertaining family and friends, with a great room plan that blends the kitchen, dining and living areas to create an expansive conversation space.

Soco Interiors’ sophisticated palette of whites, taupes and grays is punctuated with pops of orange throughout the Destin model.

"I wanted to create an organic, contemporary feel," said Senior Designer Meredith Summersgill.

In the dining area, a painted beam coffered ceiling with tongue-and-groove insets anchors a pair of brushed-brass candle globe chandeliers.

She selected upholstered furniture with smooth, clean lines in neutral fabrics and incorporated concrete, wood, metal and glass elements to imbue a layered, textured feel to the home from wood-look porcelain flooring to a unique willow branch chair in the great room.

"It’s the perfect blend of organic material meeting modern shape," Summersgill said. "The chair almost serves as a sculptural piece of art."

The geometric molding on the ceiling of the modern study is referenced both in dual metal open-frame bookcases and an accent rug.

The creamy-white kitchen features stainless steel appliances, shaker-style cabinets and a mosaic-tile backsplash in shades of sand that complements the quartz countertops. A built-in desk provides the a spot to plan party menus and coordinate the family calendar, while an oversized island topped with white quartz encourages casual dining.

In the dining area, a painted beam coffered ceiling with tongue-and-groove insets anchors an elegant pair of brushed-brass candle globe chandeliers. Indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly blend through sliding glass doors that open wide from the great room and dining space, revealing an expansive outdoor living area overlooking the pool, spa and the lake beyond.

The owner’s suite bed wall features applied molding that creates architectural interest, and the nailhead detail on the dove gray upholstered headboard is echoed on plush stools at the bed’s foot. An oversized walk-in closet, dual-sink quartz-topped vanity, walk-in shower, freestanding soaking tub and private water closet complete the suite.

Three en suite bedrooms are designed with distinctive décor and feature walk-in closets. A conveniently located powder bath off the great room boasts a bold wall covering, and a large laundry room with utility sink is near the three-car garage. The Destin is base priced at $509,990.

Like all other homes in this “smart city,” the Destin boasts a full gigabyte of fiber-optic connectivity direct to the home, supplying powerful internet for today’s online lifestyle.

Babcock Ranch was created by Kitson & Partners with respect for the natural environment and the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand. Half of the town’s 18,000-acre footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for Babcock Ranch’s homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district.

Emphasizing a front-porch lifestyle to nurture a sense of community, Babcock Ranch promotes healthy living through a walkable community plan, 50 miles of planned biking and hiking trails, interconnected lakes for paddling enthusiasts, a robust calendar of exercise classes, and the Healthy Life Center managed by Lee Health at Founder’s Square scheduled to open in April, with health club facilities, nutrition counseling, therapeutic services, and medical offices opening in the summer.

Table & Tap restaurant, Slater’s Goods and Provisions, Square Scoops Coffee & Creamery, Curry Creek Outfitters, and Babcock Neighborhood School welcomed the greater community to Founder’s Square before the arrival of the town’s first residents in early January. A downtown park offers a lakefront bandshell, boardwalk, covered pavilions, and charging stations for electronics, including cars. An autonomous shuttle – part of the town’s mobility plan – provides transportation between homes and Founder’s Square.

Babcock Ranch has seven homebuilders offering more than 50 home designs including twin villas, cottages, single-family executive, manor and custom homes featuring one- and two-story plans, two to six bedrooms, and 1,400 to 4,761 square feet of living space priced from the low $200,000s to $1 million. Homes are built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards, emphasizing energy and water conservation.

More than 30 model and quick-delivery homes are now open or under construction by Castle Harbour Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Fox Premier Builders, Homes by Towne, Lennar, Pulte and Stock Classic Homes.
