Update: Woman who allegedly struck officer arrested

Update, April 3:

 A woman accused of hitting an off-duty police officer with her car has been arrested in northwest Louisiana.

Shreveport Police issued a warrant for 30-year-old Tamara Lewis' arrest Monday. She is accused of hitting the officer who was working as a security officer after attempting to shoplift.

Police say the officer spotted Lewis attempting to steal from Dillard's in Mall St. Vincent in mid-March. She stuck the officer with her Chevrolet Impala. The officer was not seriously injured.

Members of the United States Marshal’s Office Fugitive Task Force arrived at a residence located in the 2600 block of Portland Avenue in search of Lewis on Monday. A man at the home told agents that no one was inside the residence and Lewis’s whereabouts were unknown.

Following a search of the home, authorities found Lewis hiding inside a clothes dryer. She was arrested, along with 28-year-old Gary White.  Both Lewis and White were transported to the Shreveport City Jail.  White faces charges of accessory after the fact to aggravated battery.  Lewis was jailed on her outstanding warrant for aggravated battery.
 

Update Friday March 16:

Shreveport Police have obtained a warrant for a Shreveport woman identified as a suspect in striking a Shreveport Police officer with a car as she fled during a shoplifting attempt.

Police are looking for 30-year-old Tamara D. Lewis of the 4800 block of Old Mooringsport Road in Shreveport. Lewis is now wanted on single count of aggravated battery. Bond has been set at $50,000.

Shreveport Police investigators are searching for a woman who struck a policeman in the parking lot of Dillard's Department store in Mall St. Vincent Thursday evening.

The woman was captured on video surveillance attempting to steal items from the store just after 8:45 p.m. by a Shreveport Police officer working an off-duty security detail at the department store. The alleged shoplifter had been seen on video on a previous occasion running off with hundreds of dollars in merchandise without paying for the items.  

The uniformed officer spotted the woman, who after being observed, fled from the store and into the parking lot.  The officer pursued the woman on foot, who was seen getting into a 2006-2012 model, white or silver colored Chevrolet Impala, with a black stripe around the bottom portion of the car.

The woman, in her attempt to flee, struck the officer with the vehicle and continued out of the parking lot. The officer who was not seriously injured, was treated for minor scrapes and bruises.
