Syngenta Seeds aggressively seeking acquisitions

The president of Syngenta Seeds says as industry mergers continue, the company is aggressively seeking acquisitions.

During a news conference at Commodity Classic, David Hollinrake talked about adding capabilities to the Syngenta portfolio.

“Nadera is a recent acquisition in South America that is a proof-point of that.  They offer market-leading genetics in South America for both soybeans and a pretty decent corn share position.”

The acquisition of Nadera Seeds was completed last month.

He says Syngenta is also interested in collaboration.

“There are over 100 seed companies in the U.S., most of which license from us or our competitors.  We’re hungry to be collaborators with them and use our R&D engine to enable them to provide more unique choice to growers in the marketplace as well.”

Swiss-based Syngenta is now owned by Chem-China.
