Potential witnesses in glyphosate lawsuits “shaky”

The federal judge hearing from potential expert witnesses against Monsanto reportedly has called their testimony “shaky.”

The lawsuits, filed on behalf of 700 people, claim Monsanto’s RoundUp glyphosate herbicide causes cancer in humans.

Reports say all of the witnesses, except one, relied on the 2015 determination by the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) that glyphosate “probably” causes cancer. That claim has been disputed by the U.S. EPA and many other agencies.

The San Francisco judge will determine which witnesses the plaintiffs can bring to trial.
