MADISON - Gov. Scott Walker announced Tuesday he was appointing his chief of staff to the Public Service Commission and bringing back his former top aide.

Rich Zipperer, the governor's chief of staff and a former state senator, will join the Public Service Commission on March 26, the Republican governor announced. He is replacing Ellen Nowak, who recently accepted a job heading Walker's Department of Administration.

Taking over Zipperer's job as chief of staff will be Eric Schutt, who served in that role from 2011 to 2015. Schutt is now a vice president of UnitedHealth Group and will rejoin the administration on April 2.

Zipperer now makes about $114,000 a year and will make $129,000 in his new job.

Schutt will make $135,000 as chief of staff, according to Walker's office.
