Clay and Brian Matthews are just over a year apart in age.

What do Clay Matthews, Ashton Kutcher, newborn twins and pendant lighting have in common?

A home renovation.

The Green Bay Packers linebacker surprised his brother, Brian, and sister-in-law, Megan, with a renovation of their Cleveland home for the latest episode of “My Houzz.” The video series follows a well-known person as they use Houzz Inc., a home remodeling and design website, to remodel the house of someone dear to them.

Clay chose his brother, who is just a little more than a year older than him. They grew up playing on the same sports teams and often had people confuse the two of them.

Brian and Megan struggled for years to have children. They bought an older home two years ago in Cleveland — where Clay and Brian’s dad, Clay Matthews Jr., played most of his NFL career — and then became pregnant with twins.

Clay wanted to have the kitchen (small and outdated), family room (feels like a man cave) and dining room (secluded) redone to make the spaces more family-friendly and functional. The twin boys were born just days before the remodel began.

The 20-minute video shows Clay working with a local design-build firm both on-site and remotely from Wisconsin. Walls come down, windows go in. Clay picked out the rectangular glass drop chandelier, pendant lighting and a faux wood backsplash himself.

Packers fan have heard countless locker room interviews with Clay, but they’ve probably never heard him talk about how the hood over the range matches the veining in the countertop.

When it's time for the big reveal, Brian jokes, “I’m kind of scared that (Clay) may have put his touch on it.”

A father of two young children himself — Clay IV and Madeline with wife Casey — Clay told them the new lighter, brighter “family cave” with storage will be more conducive to the “army of toys” that comes with kids.

But the real money shot comes late in the video, and it’s not the new kitchen island. It’s the segment that shows “Uncle Clay” holding his new nephews, Dalton and Cooper, one in each arm.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews surprised his brother, Brian, and sister-in-law, Megan, with a new kitchen remodel as part of a renovation of their Cleveland home for the new episode of "My Houzz."

When Brian and Megan first learned they were pregnant, Brian had a call from Clay asking him to check if there were any packages at the front door. It was two cribs.

“Now Clay has gone and outdone himself and given us this space,” Brian said in the episode. “It just shows the type of person he is.”

Past episodes of “My Houzz” have featured Kristen Bell, Jenna Fischer, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who is also executive producer for the series filmed by Shed Media.
