Easy DIY Macrame Jar Lanterns

Hello ladies,

Are you as ready for Spring as I am? The weather here in the low lands really has us guessing what’s next. After downright arctic temperatures that had many skating on the canals and open waters, within a week we had double digits Spring weather. And now that we are all contemplating putting the winter coats away, apparently the frost is coming back. I am so over it!

But I have been keeping myself nicely busy. Nursing not one but two colds, starting up a bit of an exercise regime again to get fit for the good weather months, working on not one but two rooms in my home that are now almost ready and close to blog reveal time, removing loads and loads of ivy from my house and garden, making plans for the professionals to come in and save this disaster of a garden, working at the grown-up job and hanging out with my man.

Busy, busy. And last but definitely not least I had a little crafting fun day with my big sis.

Totally up with the times we had ourselves a little macrame fun. A first time for me, my sister remembered the good old days when this was hot the first time around. So she taught me the most basic knots and then we were off. I had spotted beautiful macrame jars at Pinterest, and they were my inspiration for this simple version. We only used regular knots and one macrame knot that everyone can make, the square knot (youtube is full of instructions for them). It was so fun to do. Kind of addictive really, so I see a few more macrame projects in my future.

We are still on winter time over here, so nights are still dark and often a bit dreary. Of course that is just the best reason to light candles, a lot of candles. And these easy diy macrame jar lanterns add just that bit of extra to my boho living room that I love.

  1. So fun. They look really nice. I don’t think anyone did macrame jars. I remember a gal making a belt once!! I like the look.
We have long evenings again because of daylight savings time. The sky is dark here at 7pm. But we all are tired ? and it will take a bit to adjust. Spring is beautiful.
I don’t DIY much anymore but I did spray paint something today. Does that count?!!

  2. Love your jars. Kind of beachy. I remember the first time macrame was hot. My Aunt gave me a macrame belt kit for my birthday, which I made and wore.

    1. Oh and, we have the same weather as you. First so much winter and snow. Now a week of above zero and melting. Tomorrow the snow begins again! I have had enough.

  3. I am wondering if you start the jar macrame as a straight piece that will fit around the jar and then attach it together or else just do it on the jar itself,
