Athlete of the Week: Giusto, Joffre win for Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast High School girls basketball player Mya Giusto has been voted the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week for Feb. 19-24.
Giusto, a junior point guard, had a strong all-around performance in the Sharks' 55-52 loss to Tampa Bay Tech in the Class 8A regional finals. She finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals.
Giusto received 1,339 of the 2,318 votes (58 percent) in the online poll. First Baptist Academy boys basketball player Preston Urbancic was second with 883 votes (38 percent).
Gulf Coast boys soccer player Sebastian Joffre is the Daily News selection for Athlete of the Week, picked by the newspaper's staff. Joffre, a senior, scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the Class 4A state championship.
A new Athlete of the Week poll starts at noon each Monday and closes at noon on Thursday.

Preston Urbancic, First Baptist – Led the Lions with 21 points in a win in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals
Girls Basketball
Mya Giusto, Gulf Coast – Had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in the Class 8A regional championship game

Sebastian Joffre, Gulf Coast – Scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the Class 4A state championship game
