WAMI Award nominees include WebsterX, GGOOLLD, Abby Jeanne, Fatty Acids

Milwaukee music acts Abby Jeanne, the Fatty Acids, GGOOLLDD and WebsterX picked up two nominations each in the big three categories for the 38th annual Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards.

Soulful rocker Jeanne — one of the Journal Sentinel's Wisconsin Bands to Watch for 2018 — and rapper WebsterX are nominated for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, for "Rebel Love" and "Daymares," respectively.

Synthpop group GGOOLLD is also up for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year, for "Excelsior Springs." Alternative rock veterans the Fatty Acids are nominated in the Album and Song of the Year categories, for "Dogs of Entertainment" and "Digested," respectively.

This year's Hall of Fame inductees include blues guitarist and Green Bay native Billy Flynn; Stevie Rachelle, the Oshkosh-born vocalist for glam metal band Tuff; and the late trumpet player Bunny Berrigan from Hilbert, who performed with Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman, and has a 1937 recording, of "I Can't Get Started," in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

WAMI — a nonprofit organization promoting Wisconsin musicians — will host the awards on April 15 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton. Tickets are $15 to $60 at foxcitiespac.org. Performers have yet to be announced.

WAMI will also host a free party at 7 p.m. March 25 at the Saloon on Calhoun, 17000 W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield. It's open to the public.

Votes are also being accepted for the WAMI Awards' People's Choice categories through March 8 at wamimusic.com.
