Panthers enjoy smooth sailing

UW-Milwaukee forward Bryce Nze, shown in an earlier game this season, scored a game-high 23 points Thursday night.

DETROIT - Pat Baldwin might want to use this game plan again.

The UW-Milwaukee men’s basketball coach didn’t have too much to sweat Thursday night as the Panthers coasted to a 73-49 victory over Detroit at Calihan Hall.

Bryce Nze had 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Panthers (15-15, 8-9 Horizon League), who led the whole game. Nze had a huge first half, scoring 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as UWM took a 32-25 lead at the break.

“I was pleased with our guys and their effort,” Baldwin said. “We always say defense has to travel with us. Even when we have offensive lulls and aren't getting the possessions we want on the offensive end, our defense has been really strong.”

Brett Prahl was the only other Panther in double figures with 14 points.

The Titans (8-22, 4-13) have lost nine of their last 11 games.
