Letter Writing Including Reflections on Billy Graham

Yesterday my Letter Writing found me including Reflections on Billy Graham passing away at age 99.  I’ll share more on writing those letters at the end of today’s post.

You’ll want to read the article yesterday by Max Lucado. In “FAREWELL, MR. GRAHAM” he shares a beautiful insight that Billy Graham, Mother Theresa, Pope John Paul II, and Nelson Mandela were all born within two years of each other. “Their faces form a Mount Rushmore of faith.” His article is beautifully written and one I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read.

Jim Denison in his column today, includes recalling a story Dr. Graham had told with his anecdote of Albert Einstein on the train; the article “Kathie Lee Gifford remembers Billy Graham, preaches Jesus on TVincludes a link to her seven minute interview from yesterday appearing on Megyn Kelly Today.

In writing today’s blog post on America’s Pastor, it was amazing to read in the Los Angeles Times article yesterday:
“At the height of his career, he received an average of 10,000 letters a day and 8,500 written requests for speaking engagements a year.”

Over at DaySpring they wrote an article yesterday on “Honoring Billy Graham: 5 Ways to Keep His Message Alive”.

I’m hopeful there will be a USPS Stamp on Billy Graham in the future.  In doing some research, I came across this back from 2011: Billy Graham, Obama Among Nominees for ‘Living Legend’ Stamp”.
The article was in anticipation of “Starting in 2012, the Postal Service will honor living people on stamps”.  … “… Graham, who has appeared many times on Gallup’s list of most admired people, turned 93 last month…”

Before concluding today’s post, it was very uplifting hearing a dear friend recall on the phone having been to one of the Billy Graham Crusades. It was while in High School in 1970. She said, she “can still picture it in her mind to this day”. In addition, Thank you to Mom, and each of My Three Muses for being able to chat on the phone today.

In conclusion,  circling back to my letter writing from yesterday found me with Reflections on Billy Graham, it was while writing letters for Week 1 of Lent. I found the timing for the passing away of Billy Graham during Lent to be of comfort, especially with the promise of the Resurrection.

Anchors Aweigh,
Helen
P.S. Today is Day 22 of #InCoWriMo2018 for letter writing one letter daily in February.
