Chevy Chase chased a driver in a road rage incident on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge that ended when the actor took a foot to the shoulder, state police said.

The 74-year-old Bedford actor told police he was cut off while driving on northbound Interstate 87 on Feb. 9 and thought his 2015 Dodge Ram suffered damage, according to state police.

Chase followed the other driver across the bridge over the Hudson River and flashed his headlights at him, state police said.

They pulled over near Exit 10 in South Nyack in Rockland County, where the two men exchanged words before the other driver — a  22-year-old Long Island man — kicked Chase in the shoulder, state police said.

The 22-year-old told police he kicked Chase to block a punch from the comedian, police said. Police said they were not able to confirm that.

Chevy Chase and his wife Jayni will cut the ribbon at the SPCA of Westchester Walkathon and Pet Fair on May 3.

The 22-year-old man was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, and released on an appearance ticket. He's due back in court on March. 5.

After graduating from Bard College in Annandale, Dutchess County in 1968, Chase went on to fame on "Saturday Night Live," in National Lampoon's "Vacation" movies, "Caddyshack," "Fletch" and more recently on TV's "Community." He was honored in Woodstock in 2013 with an award by Catskill Mountainkeeper for "lifetime commitment to the environment."
