U.S. Commerce Department says Argentina & Indonesia guilty of biodiesel dumping

The U.S. Commerce Department says Argentina and Indonesia are guilty of dumping biodiesel into the U.S. market below fair value.

The final determination Wednesday is a victory for the National Biodiesel Board. Their Vice President of Federal Affairs Kurt Kovarik says the biodiesel industry already deals with policy uncertainties and unpredictability with the Renewable Fuel Standard, so they appreciate seeing illegally dumped imports remedied.

Importers of biodiesel from the two countries will be paying deposits of up to 86% for Argentinian biodiesel and up to 276% for Indonesian biodiesel once the ruling is published in the federal register next week. These deposits are in addition to countervailing duties imposed this year on the two countries for unfairly subsidizing their biodiesel industries.
