The "Greek Freak" nickname may soon be coming to a backpack, hoodie or other gear tied to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis Antetokounmpo's play, hard work and personality have won over both players and fans.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark office last week approved a trademark for "Greek Freak," the nickname for the Buck's All-Star forward.

The trademark was noticed by Josh Gerben, a Washington D. C. trademark attorney. He tweeted that he "got bored watching the mystifying #NBAAllStar2018 open so I started looking up trademarks." He found the registration granted to Antetokounmpo Feb. 13.

The federal notice of the trademark indicates the application was filed May 30, 2014.

It's for use on backpacks, as well as "Shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, jackets, hooded jackets, sports jerseys, socks, warm-up suits, caps, hats," the notice says.

Last year, Antetokounmpo renewed a deal with Nike after a short stint as a basketball shoe free agent. The sneaker deal could be worth upwards of $7 million per season, and possibly up to $10 million per year, the Journal Sentinel's Matt Velazquez reported in September.
