Event for homeless and at-risk veterans scheduled for Saturday in Milwaukee

An event for homeless and at-risk veterans featuring meals and clothing donations will be held Saturday in Milwaukee.

Held twice a year since 1992, Milwaukee Stand-down for Homeless Veterans offers homeless and at-risk veterans hot meals, clothing, dental and vision screenings plus employment assistance and other services.

A collaboration of nonprofit Milwaukee Veterans Stand Down Inc. and the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center along with other agencies, the event is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Richards Street Armory, 4108 N. Richards St.

Milwaukee Veterans Stand Down Inc. accepts financial donations as well as new winter clothing and personal care items for distribution to veterans. To donate contact Kathy Hawkins, (414) 288-5500.
