BHP, Crescent, Liberty have multiple wrestlers qualify for state finals

High school wrestlers from the Anderson-area competed at the Upper State qualifiers this weekend, with 36 punching their ticket to the state finals, set for this weekend at the Anderson Civic Center.

Eighteen of those wrestlers won Upper State championships.

In Class AAAA, Upper State champions all came from Belton-Honea Path, with Trenton Patters (113 pounds), Trevor Mansfield (138), Jaden Branyon (145) and Bryson Scott (160) finishing on top.

Both Patterson and Mansfield are going for their second consecutive state championships.

Winning Upper State titles in Class AAA were Powdersville's Dylan Bailey (138), Crescent's Murphy McBride (145) and Palmetto's Cole Haney (182). 

West-Oak led the area, with Jordan Lee (120), Matt Williams (132), Jesse Taylor (152), Ian James (160), Ethan Powell (195), Tate Capps (220) and Gavin James (285) all winning Upper State titles.

Four wrestlers from Liberty won titles in Class AA/A. Jacob Rogers (132), Cole Murphy (152), Hunter Powell (170) and Lucas Bates (285) represented the Red Devils. 

A pair of wrestlers qualified for state in Class AAAAA, while Westside's Brandon Wiley finishing second at 170, and T.L. Hanna's Bryson Ethington finishing second at 138.
