Sudden death of 14-year-old Milwaukee girl ruled homicide by blunt force trauma

The sudden death of a 14-year-old girl has been ruled a homicide, Milwaukee police said Monday.

Jada S. Wright died from severe blunt force trauma and a 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death, according to police. 

Officers were called to a home in the 9200 block of N. 75th St. about 12:30 a.m. Thursday and the teen was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The man was arrested Saturday and the investigation is ongoing, police said. 

The teen's death is the first homicide reported in Milwaukee in three weeks. She is the city's seventh homicide victim so far this year, according to data maintained by the Journal Sentinel.

The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families also was notified of the  girl's death and is reviewing it.
