United Way fire, flood fund exceeds $3.7 million

The United Way Thomas Fire and Flood Fund has grown to more than $3.7 million, and applications are now being accepted from fire and flood victims.

United Way of Ventura County officials said they plan to release as much as $1.5 million for individual hardship assistance through April 30. Eligible applicants must be Ventura County residents, and eligibility will be based on household income and family size. Money can be used for expenses related to housing, livelihood and income and habitability of homes.

Application forms will be available beginning Monday through March 15 at vcunitedway.org or at 211ventura.org. Applicants can also call 2-1-1 to find out more.

Bank of America recently gave $150,000 and AT&T $100,000 to the fund.
