Ventura man accused of meth possession, sales

A Ventura man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of methamphetamine possession and sales after a monthslong investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s detectives identified Douglas Middleton, 54, as a suspect in the distribution of the drug throughout Ventura County after an investigation in November and December, authorities said.

On Dec. 14, sheriff’s personnel conducted a search warrant at Middleton’s residence in Ventura, allegedly finding more than 13 pounds of meth with a street value of $350,000.

Deputies said they found evidence of narcotics sales, as well. 

Middleton was not arrested until the conclusion of the investigation Wednesday. He was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, according to authorities.

He was being held on $50,000 bail and is due in Ventura County Superior Court on Feb. 27, according to jail records.
