Wisconsin ag groups support wetland reform legislation

Wisconsin Farm Bureau and seven other state farm groups are asking members to get behind a wetlands reform proposal.

The groups are backing Assembly Bill 547, which would exempt some small nonfederal and artificially-created wetlands from certain state permitting requirements.

The same bill also has language allowing the Department of Natural Resources on behalf of the Governor to seek authority from the Environmental Protection Agency to manage dredged or fill material in navigable waters.

Supporters of the legislation include:

  • Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation
  • Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association
  • Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association
  • Wisconsin Pork Association
  • Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association
  • Wisconsin Soybean Association
  • Wisconsin Association of Professional Agricultural Consultants
  • Wisconsin Corn Growers Association
