“I'll confirm he's in Utah and we are in the process of extraditing him back to New Mexico,” 12th Judicial District Attorney John Sugg said Wednesday. “I anticipate he will be back to Lincoln County in 10 to 20 days.”

Last week, New Mexico State Police issued a request for help from the public in locating Aubrey Lee Durrett, who the victim and another witness claim fired the shot that hospitalized Dianne Long.

According to a release from the agency at the time, the 22-year-old Alamogordo man allegedly shot Long during a dispute in a Ruidoso Downs home over a vehicle. The victim told agents Durrett was living at the home with her when the dispute escalated and Durrett allegedly produced a weapon and shot her, the release stated.

An arrest warrant was issued for Durrett for aggravated battery and unlawful taking of a vehicle.
