Animal nutritionists to address soybean growers

The United Soybean Board hears from animal agriculture customers at its meeting in Alabama next week.  Board Chairman Lewis Bainbridge, a soybean grower from southeastern South Dakota, tells Brownfield a panel of animal nutritionists will speak to soybean farmer directors.

“We’re trying to focus on the value of the soybean meal,” Bainbridge told Brownfield Ag News Wednesday, “so we feel it’s very, very important to cater to the animal ag industry and make sure that they have a right the package of nutrients, if you will.”

U.S. animal agriculture represents about 97 percent of soybean meal demand.

“If we don’t have the animal ag industry we are in a world of hurt,” said Bainbridge.

Demand for soybean meal is especially high among poultry, swine and aquaculture operations in the U.S. and internationally.
