Hardin Valley's Abbey Cornelius voted PrepXtra girls basketball player of the week
Abbey Cornelius was voted PrepXtra girls basketball player of the week for the week of Feb. 5-11 with a commanding 41 percent of the vote.
The Hardin Valley senior had two double-doubles in the week. She scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds in a 54-47 win over Maryville and 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 48-44 win over William Blount.
The King’s Academy's Jennifer Sullivan finished second with 28 percent of the vote. The eighth-grader scored a team-high 24 points in a 67-49 win over Concord Christian in the first round of TKA’s district tournament.
Campbell Penland of Northview Academy finished third for her 22 points, including three 3-pointers, in a win against Union County. Webb's Haylee Luttrell was fourth for her 22 points in a 65-37 win over King’s Academy and 16 points in a win over Grace Christian. Grace van Rij of Bearden was fifth for her 17 points in a 44-27 win over Maryville and 16 in a 55-37 win over Farragut.
