Quay Walker tosses Tennessee ballcap, signs with Georgia Bulldogs over Vols

Quay Walker

Quay Walker picked up the orange Tennessee ballcap off the table and placed it on his head. Then he tossed it away, reached under the table and pulled out a straw hat with a Georgia logo on it.

The Bulldogs won the battle for Walker’s services, beating out Tennessee and Alabama.

It stings for the Vols.

The 6-foot-4, 236-pound Walker, from Crisp County (Ga.) High School, is rated a four-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, which ranks him as the second-best outside linebacker nationally. Had Walker picked Tennessee, he would have become the highest-rated player in the Vols' class.

Walker had been committed to Alabama, and Jeremy Pruitt helped recruit him while with the Crimson Tide. Pruitt’s hiring at Tennessee gave the Vols a chance.

Tennessee has a commitment from another Georgia standout, JJ Peterson, who is the third-ranked outside linebacker in the 247 composite. He is committed to UT but has not signed yet. Alabama reportedly made a late push to try to get Peterson to flip his commitment.
