Body found in Naples Municipal Airport pond

The Naples Police Department and Naples Fire-Rescue investigate the scene where a body was found floating and recovered from a small pond on Naples Municipal Airport property early Monday, Jan. 29, 2018.

The body of a man was found floating in a pond at Naples Municipal Airport on Monday morning. 

A passer-by saw the body and called 911 around 8:30 a.m., according to Naples Lt. Seth Finman.

Finman said a Naples Fire-Rescue Department dive team pulled the body from the water. The body was then taken to the medical examiner's office.

The man's identity has not been released, pending notification of family. 

Finman said police have previously responded to the airport for reports of cars in the lake or vehicles crashing into airport hangars. No car, bicycle or other vehicle was found near the pond at the time the man's body was found, he said.

Naples police detectives are investigating the death. Finman said they were searching for any potential belongings in and around the pond.
