Reporter/anchor Michele McCormack out after 12 years at WDJT-TV

Michele McCormack has left WDJT-TV (Channel 58) after 12 years at the Milwaukee CBS affiliate.
She had been co-anchoring Channel 58's noon and 4 p.m. newscasts. On Friday, the station's parent company, Weigel Broadcasting, announced that Amanda Porterfield had been promoted to the job.

Mark Strachota, vice president and general manager of Weigel's Milwaukee properties, confirmed via email Thursday that McCormack was no longer with WDJT.
McCormack had co-anchored the 4 p.m. newscast since WDJT launched it in March 2015. She joined the station in 2005, after reporting and anchoring stints at Philadelphia’s WPVI-TV and Kansas City’s KMBC-TV.
In a phone conversation Thursday, McCormack, whose last day on the air was Jan. 16, said she decided against announcing her departure on the air.
"That's just not my style," she said.
For now, McCormack said, she is "just taking some time off," but she expects to continue working with local charities she's involved in and other community efforts.
While she declined to discuss what her next career step would be, McCormack said "it's looking like" it will be in the Milwaukee area.
