Bad news, Star Trek fans: Jonathan Frakes — best known as Commander William T. Riker on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” — won’t be beaming down to SpaceCon, after all.

The organizers of the Lee County event broke the news Saturday on Facebook.

“We regret to announce that Jonathan Frakes has had to cancel his appearance at SWFLSpaceCon due to filming commitments,” they wrote. “We will be booking another headlining guest for our event. Stay tuned for more announcements.”

That leaves SpaceCon without a big-name star, but Michelle Wassall of event organizers Nexus9 LLC says they hope to have another high-caliber guest booked as soon as this week.
