WTO panel to hear U.S. complaint about China

A World Trade Organization dispute panel will take up the U.S. complaint in Geneva this week about China’s ag subsidies for wheat, corn and rice.

In 2016, the U.S. Trade Representative’s office filed a WTO complaint that the subsidies for wheat, especially, distort world markets and lead to billions of dollars in losses for U.S. farmers and exporters every year.

The U.S. is expected to argue that China’s domestic price supports go well over levels allowed for the WTO.

  • As if American farm support budget does not do the same. Ridiculous side to this is Australia is supporting this action . Who is making these decisions.? We currently are doing fabulous business in China. No Farm organisation would support such action.
