Three highlights in the history of the Famous Racing Sausages.

The Chorizo crosses the finish line in third place during the traditional sausage race at the beginning of the seventh inning of the Brewers-Reds game at Miller Park on July 29, 2006.

1. Assault on Guido

On July 9, 2003, during a Brewers’ night game at Miller Park against Pittsburgh, Pirates first baseman Randall Simon swatted the Italian sausage from behind with a bat as the characters ran past the Pittsburgh dugout during the sausage race. Simon was later suspended for three games by Major League Baseball and fined $432 for disorderly conduct.

2. Debut of Chorizo

On July 29, 2006, a new racing sausage — a chorizo — debuted at Miller Park during the first Cerveceros Day celebration. The Spanish sausage became the fifth edition to the lineup, following in the footsteps of the bratwurst, Italian, Polish and hot dog.

3. Guido's abduction

On Feb. 16, 2013, during Cedarburg’s annual Winter Festival somebody walked off with the $3,000 Italian sausage costume. The costume was dropped off at a bar a couple of weeks later by two men who plopped it on a bar stool and told staff, “You did not see anything.”
