Pelicans' DeMarcus Cousins puts name beside NBA greats with huge night vs. Bulls

New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins scored 44 points, had 24 rebounds and 10 assists Monday against the Chicago Bulls, putting himself into elite company.

The last time a player had a 40, 20, 10 triple-double was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1972.

The Pelicans beat the Bulls 132-128 in double overtime. Cousins played 52 minutes, picking up the slack after fellow big man Anthony Davis fouled out. Davis wasn't too bad either, with 34 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Cousins is averaging 25.2 points, 12.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the season. He and Davis are trying to be the first teammates to average 25 points and 10 rebounds for a season.
