Slow pace continues for export inspections

 

The USDA reports corn, soybean, and wheat export inspections as of the week ending January 18th remain behind what’s needed to meet USDA projections.

Wheat came out at 337,980 tons, down 31,769 from the week ending January 11th, but up 49,007 from the week ending January 19th, 2017. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 15,474,715 tons, compared to 16,475,616 in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 668,946 tons, 80,165 higher than the previous week, but 317,322 lower than this time last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 12,687,717 tons, compared to 19,826,337 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,419,430 tons, 175,136 more than the prior week and 123,706 above a year ago. Cumulative soybean inspections are 32,271,766 tons, compared to 37,190,456 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 220 tons. That’s a drop of 119,929 tons on the week and 145,309 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 1,764,742 tons, compared to 2,300,140 in 2016/17.
