Diptyque Rose Delight Candle Valentine's Day 2018 Review

With just over two weeks until Valentine's Day, I thought it would be somewhat acceptable to share Diptyque's latest collection - Rose Delight, which has been created to mark such occasion...that and the candles within this range are selling out quickly, so I wanted to post whilst there was still stock to avoid disappointment. Diptyque candles are forever coveted but it seems that the delicate notes and packaging of Rose Delight are more than most can resist, myself included.

Diptyque Rose Delight Candle Valentine's Day 2018 Review

The Diptyque Rose Delight Candle is charming in every way possible - from the sweet yet instantly recognisable notes of Rose, to the cute yet refined blush-pink packaging that adorns the entire range (there's two sizes of candles, draw liners, a scented solid disc and a hair mist within the collection). The beautiful design, front and centre of this campaign has been inspired by a Middle Eastern take on French toile de Jouy (an iconic style of French prints primarily used on cloth and wallpaper)My only grumble is that the pink accents that decorate the glass container, housing the candle are paper stickers, something that will get grubby and peel with continued use, and not exactly the level of luxury I expect when dropping £50 on a single candle.

As past launches have dictated, Diptyque to tend to favour rose scents for their limited edition Valentine's editions and this time around, the scent is inspired by Turkish Delight. As someone who is not all that familiar with the sweet but traditional treat, I can't vouch for authenticity in terms of fragrance but I will say that that this is so much more than your bog standard rose doused release; with notes of fresh rose, a dash of honey, lemon zest and delicate icing sugar, it is decidedly a confectionery scented treat.

Diptyque Rose Delight Candle Valentine's Day 2018 Review

Someone (I apologise, I can't quite recall who) posted on Instagram that Diptyque Rose Delight reminded them of the scent used to powder Cabbage Patch Dolls and now it is all I can think of when anywhere near Diptyque Rose Delight. Admittedly it is an odd comparison but if you were the proud owner of one of those bizarre dolls in the 90's, the nostalgia will hit you hard and you will find it difficult to want to burn anything else; I'm currently trying to justify purchasing a back up candle to see me through the rest of Winter. Bizarre doll reference aside, Diptyque Rose Delight is soft and almost fuzzy, with a cotton-like delicateness and yet it has a surprisingly sweet undertone thanks to the little accents of honey and lemon. This could be the fragrance to persuade even the most staunchest of rose haters that there is in fact an enjoyable facet of rose for every person and home.

Get it while you can.
