Kim … On Instagram this week I mentioned that I’ve had to put myself on a library ban. I got super carried away putting books on hold and then couldn’t finish them all before the due dates. I recognized that familiar feeling of overwhelm and just said no for now.

On the Web

✤ Kim … ONE. Changing These 4 Beliefs Will Make You Surprisingly Happy. Have you caught yourself thinking any of these things?

TWO. I bookmarked 50 Nonfiction Books That Will Make You Smarter in 2018. I’ve set the goal to read 1 nonfiction book for every 3 fiction books I read this year!

THREE. Are you Drowning in Your TBR Pile? This was me a year ago until I decided to let go of everything that had been on my list for more than 2 years. If I hadn’t read it by then, chances are I wasn’t going to.

FOUR. I just picked up You, Caroline Kepnes and then saw that it is on 13 Horror Audiobooks That Are More Scary Than Their Written Versions. I think I’ll return it and get the audio version instead along with a few of these other suggestions.

FIVE. So far there are only 9 Young Adult Novels by British PoC being published in 2018. “In the British publishing industry, it’s become fashionable to shout ‘diversity!’ …but year upon year, this just isn’t translated into the books that the industry is publishing, or the writers it nurtures.

SIX. I’m really excited about most of the movies on Publisher Weekly’s 10 Most Anticipated Book to Film Adaptations of 2018. I read The Little Stranger, Sarah Waters in 2013 but had kind of forgotten about it. I’ll be excited to see how they bring the book to life.

✤ Tanya … SEVEN. The 2018 Edgar Award Nominees have been announced. I just read last year’s award winner for Best Novel – Before the Fall, Noah Hawley – and loved it.

EIGHT. People can be judgy so I totally get Feeling Like You Read the “Wrong” Books. Have you ever felt this way?

NINE. Have you checked out The Great 2018 Book Preview at The Millions – the list is huge so I’m taking it in one month at a time.

TEN. I love the idea of a Self-Imposed, First Quarter, Two Week Read-My-Own-Damn-Books-A-Thon!

ELEVEN. In case you want to – here’s How to Disable Last Activity Feature on Instagram.

TWELVE. 5 Hacks for Effortless Habit Building in 2018 – this is why I love Tim Ferriss. He breaks it down so that it can forever and consistently be broke (Love Jones – the movie – reference)

Currently Reading

✤ Kim … I finished We Are Okay, Nina Lacour yesterday and am now only about 20 minutes into my audio version of Beartown, Fredrik Backman. We Are Okay was a good book but not a great book. I think I’d still recommend it to certain people as the writing was beautiful.

✤ Tanya … I managed to finish the audiobook of The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, Charles Duhigg and although I thought it was more informative than “self-help” – there’s some excellent advice on how to get a habit going – and I plan on definitely using this going forward (have a cue, routine and a reward). I also finished listening to the audiobook of the novella, Binti (#1) by Nnedi Okoraforloved it! The narration by Robin Miles is excellent. I plan on listening to the rest of the series on audio if I can.

Oh yes! I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version of Caroline Kepnes’s “You”. It was so well done. I read the physical book first and really liked it and later reread it by audio and loved that too. The narrator really captured Joe’s voice. It was so creepy!
