Looking for ideas to decorate your home for spring? Tulips are a great flower to decorate with for spring, which marks the beginning of the growing season. Find out what tips and tricks you can use to decorate with tulips here.
Welcome sweet ladies to today’s episode of decorating with tulips. This weekend was national tulip day. You didn’t know that now did you? I neither until every Dutch social media outlet seemed to be reporting about it. I didn’t even know we had a national tulips day, but apparently, we do. It is the official start of the tulip season. Not that I knew that either because my tulip season already started two weeks ago.
Anyway, in honor of national tulip day, I bought myself yet another little bouquet of tulips and I started reminiscing about all the decorating with tulips I have done in the past. Quite a bit of it, as it turned out. That is not really a surprise though because they are my favorite spring flowers. They are so versatile, they go with every style.
Farmhouse Tulip Arrangements
If you like farmhouse decorating you’ll agree with me that tulips are the perfect spring flowers for your decor.
They go well with farmhouse decor and easily take center stage if you choose a really bold color. I love this bouquet of bright red tulips in a galvanized water can. Paired with some farmhouse accessories like a vintage milk bottle and a table runner made from an old grain sack, this tulip bouquet makes quite a statement as a spring table centerpiece.
Tulips and rustic buckets go well together. And just look at how well they pair with other spring blooms like bulbs and violets. All those vibrant colors together just welcome in spring like nothing else. All these arrangement needs are some scattered Easter eggs and it would make a perfect Easter decoration.
Ranunculus flowers bloom at the same time as tulips. A mixed flower bouquet like this is a perfect example of how easy table centerpieces can be.
White tulips wrapped in brown paper
As much as I love colorful tulips, I really love them in all white too! You would know that! I tucked the brown wrapping paper they came in with this bouquet and I still love that look! It looked so pretty as a contrast to my black wood burner in my living room.
Colorful Tulip Bouquets
You’ll often see tulip bouquets in a single, monochrome color. I love that look. But there is also something about a big luscious bunch of colorful tulips.
White pitchers are great vases for a tulip bouquet, especially when you want to show off a lovely colorful selection of flowers. Greenery like willow branches, eucalyptus leaves, or cherry blossoms make great company for your tulips.
This abundant tulip bouquet was a gift I received last year. Tulip flowers are a perfect gift every time in my book. The colorful tulips are combined with ranunculus blooms in a clear glass vase.
I don’t do multi-colored flower bouquets often. I usually stick to one color or one color palette. But tulips are the exception to that rule. I love a colorful bouquet of tulips.
This bouquet with white pink and purple tulips, shows how unruly tulips can be. Most types of tulips continue to grow in the vase. I like the festive atmosphere they create this way. If you like a bit more elegance in your arrangement then ask your florist which tulips will stay put where you placed them.
Unusual Tulip Displays
Tulip decoration with vintage bottles
Tulips are flowers with a strong presence. They can look very good just on their own. Split up a tulip bouquet and line up a collection of crystal vases, glass jars, or vintage bottles and use one tulip in each. I think this way one bouquet of tulips is the perfect spring decor on your mantel.
These soft pink flowers in vintage bottles are given a bit of an extra punch by placing them in front of a mirror. It is such an easy but fun mantel decoration.
Cut tulips are quite hardy and you can have real fun with them. Especially since they are the only flowers that continue to grow in the vase after you have cut the stems. I still love this fun little pink tulips decoration I did a couple of years ago. You can create this effect with different varieties of tulips, they all land themselves to some flower arranging fun.
Tulips in vibrant colors can make a big statement. These tiny bouquets I made in some hanging vases contain just two single flowers. And yet they decorated a whole corner of my living room, all by themselves. These hanging vases are also a great idea for weddings, you can make one for each guest.
Two different kinds of yellow tulips combined in a glass jar. I love that these tulips have a mind of their own and are doing their ‘thing’. This wild look might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I like it.
Sometimes a tulip will break. I never throw out a single flower. I simply put them in a drinking glass, a ceramic miniature vase, or a vintage cup. Whatever I have on hand that fits my mood. Even one single tulip can make your day!

Tulips are a welcome sight on this dreary afternoon in near-coastal North Carolina. Thank you for sharing.

I love tulips. I wonder if they are at a store called Trader Joe’s yet. They have them weekly. I like (and remember) the single blooms in the small clear vases. The bouquet you received was beautiful!!! When I was young I would pore over bulb catalogs and order all these tulips ? to plant. But they don’t grow really well in my area. Thank you for reminding me to look at the stores for this favorite flower!

Groetjes, Ans
