MADISON – Wisconsin assistant Bob Bostad, who worked with the offensive line for most of his career before overseeing UW’s inside linebackers last season, appears to be in the mix to become the offensive line coach at Notre Dame.

According to a college football source, Bostad has spoken to Notre Dame officials about the vacancy.

Bostad joined the UW staff in 2006 and coached tight ends for two seasons.  He was promoted to offensive line coach after the ’07 season and coached that unit from 2008 through ’11.

Four UW linemen who played for Bostad were named first-team All-American:  tackle Gabe Carimi and guard John Moffitt in 2010 and center Peter Konz and guard Kevin Zeitler in 2011.

In addition, 11 linemen who played under Bostad garnered All-Big Ten honors.

Bostad was UW’s run-game coordinator for all five seasons during his first stint and UW averaged at least 200 rushing yards per game in each season.

When then-offensive coordinator Paul Chryst left UW to take over the Pittsburgh program in 2012, Bostad left to coach the Panthers' offensive line. He took a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the start of the '12 season, however.

Bostad coached Tampa Bay's offensive line for two seasons, coached the Tennessee Titans' offensive line for two seasons and then coached fullbacks and tight ends at Northern Illinois in 2016 before returning to UW.
