Sheriff's deputies find suspected drugs and loaded gun in vehicle involved in Milwaukee County crash

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies found small bags of marijuana, heroin and cocaine as well as a loaded revolver in a vehicle after an attempt to stop a motorist.

The incident occurred when a deputy saw a vehicle run a red light on Keefe Ave. shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle sped away as the deputy activated his squad car's flashing lights. The deputy eventually called off the pursuit because the motorist was driving recklessly and had disappeared.

As the deputy returned to the freeway, he saw the vehicle stop at N. 8th and W. Locust streets, and another vehicle that had been struck. The deputy saw a male jump out of the vehicle and run away.

The driver of the vehicle that had been struck was injured but declined medical treatment.

A search of the abandoned vehicle, which sustained severe front-end damage and ignited, turned up bags of suspected drugs and a handgun.
