A Greenfield man was arrested for causing a crash while driving the wrong way on I-94 over the weekend.

Drago Jovanovic, 61, was arrested on a charge of drunken driving causing an injury, third offense, and two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies responded to a two-car crash on I-94 northbound just south of Ryan Road around 6 p.m. Saturday. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the drivers said a vehicle crossed the freeway in the wrong direction, caused the accident and then fled.

Witnesses told deputies Jovanovic got on the freeway from the northbound Ryan Road off-ramp and headed south in the northbound lanes. Parts of his vehicle were left behind at the crash scene.

Jovanovic was found sitting at the entrance to the Oak Creek police station and he admitted drinking alcohol at a cousin's house but didn't recall the crash. Tests showed his blood-alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit.
