Ooh, though! This is pretty! Guerlain is a busy brand at the moment with their new releases. Obviously, this has a Valentine’s slant because of the heart shaped lipstick (there are two) which are just gorgeous – so if you’re willing to forgo a bunch of flowers when it comes to love tokens, this is the way to point your beau!
I mean, come on now! It’s £28 and there are six shades – this one is 572 – and the formula is moisturising sheen.
I promise that’s shadow – not a dirty arm! I’d say this is a coral toned red but all the shades are HERE.
Next up is the ‘collector’s’ version of Le Meteorites pressed powder. Super pretty, sprinkled with hearts, but problematic as it’s only going to be suitable for certain tones. Nominally, the three pink tones are chosen for creating and contouring (as per the sticker on the mirror). Personally, I wouldn’t attempt this with pink powder, but I would use it for highlighting and general powdering purposes.
One section is matte, another is sheeny and the larger is for all over, so a silky matte. It’s infused with fragrance so as soon as you open it, you get a blast of sweet, rosy floral. It’s £42 HERE. I worry a little that it would be chalky on dark tones (but can’t test for that unfortunately as it’s just me here today) and I’d like to have seen a deeper version to better represent the consumer.
A lot of brands are having another push on colour correctors – CCs. They’re very much about nuance and as someone who doesn’t colour correct and rarely even conceals dark circles (I earned these!) they’re the least interesting part of this collection.
In terms of texture, there’s no problem – they’re beautifully silky and blendable and didn’t sit in any creases which is a rare bonus. They work with a pen/brush style tip like Touche Eclat. Pink is for brightening and would be used on the bridge of the nose, cheekbones and above the brows, green to tamp down any redness and apricot for dark circles. But we are talking nuance here – these are really for anyone who loves to add the attention to detail to their finished face – if you’re a splosh and go then they’re not for you! My money is on those lipsticks! Guerlain does great lipstick as it is and these are no different. The fact that it’s a heart shape doesn’t interfere with application at all but you may have to angle slightly differently to start with while the outline is still sharp.
