Police: Shooting victim found dead in East Knoxville intersection

UPDATE: Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Antonio Washington of Knoxville.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found dead in the street at an East Knoxville intersection Wednesday night.

Officers responded to a report of an injured person about 11:25 p.m. at Lay Avenue and Beaman Street to find the victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound, according to a Knoxville Police Department news release.

Investigators have yet to identify the victim.
