Packers cornerback Damarious Randall undergoes hand surgery

GREEN BAY - Green Bay Packers cornerback Damarious Randall underwent minor surgery Monday to fix an issue with a small bone in his hand, according to a source.

Randall played through the injury all season knowing it would need to be addressed afterward, according to a source. The procedure was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

What began as an inconsistent season for Randall quickly launched into the strongest stretch of his career, especially in November and December. He emerged as the Packers’ best and most reliable cornerback in a season when rookie Kevin King, veteran Davon House and former second-round pick Quinten Rollins all were beset by injuries.

Particularly impressive was Randall’s success when shadowing the opposing team’s most dangerous receiver, be it Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns, DeSean Jackson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Devin Funchess of the Carolina Panthers. He limited those three receivers to a total of four catches for 56 yards as the Packers attempted to mount a playoff push.

Randall finished the season with a team-high four interceptions and one defensive touchdown.
