Car fire triggers small brush fire outside Moorpark Saturday

A vehicle fire north of Moorpark Saturday triggered a grass fire that Ventura County Fire crews were able to contain at about a quarter of an acre.

The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the 10900 block of Broadway Road, near Rifleman Road. The area is west of Broadway's intersection with Grimes Canyon Road, northwest of city limits.

Fire crews at the scene, who quickly extinguished the vehicle fire, said a small grass fire had started. Several responding units were able to handle the blaze. By about 1:50 p.m, they reported they had knocked down and contained the grass fire, though crews expected to remain on scene for another 30 minutes or so.
