Sewage spill mixed with oil in Camarillo summoned emergency responders

A reported sewage spill in Camarillo Saturday apparently mixed with oil near the intersection of Las Posas and Arneill roads, officials said.

The incident was reported around 11:35 a.m. in the 2100 block of east Las Posas Road, west of the intersection with Arneill. Ventura County Fire Department crews at the scene requested a response from county environmental health officials.

Responders at the scene could be heard describing what appeared to be underground water mixing with oil at the scene. They soon clarified that the spill involved sewage.

Some traffic control required in the area was provided by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The incident was handed over to control of city of Camarillo sanitation officials shortly after 1:30 p.m.
